Detailed class descriptions, required equipment for each, and prerequisites are described below.

North Carolina Concealed Carry

Quest Tactical Solutions offers the North Carolina Concealed Carry certification course on select Saturdays at our private shooting range in Mebane. This class prepares the attendees to receive their Concealed Carry permit for a pistol in North Carolina. Interested participants need to be at least 21 years of age with a clean criminal record and no history of institutionalization. The supplies necessary for this course include the following items:

  • Firearm NOT of the following brands: Davis, Jennings, Highpoint Arms, or Larson
  • Outside the pant holster that is not a cross-draw or shoulder holster
  • At least 150 rounds of target ammunition
  • 2 magazine minimum
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Billed hat
  • Small stool
  • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)

 

Class Series Levels and Prerequisites

Quest Tactical Solutions offers firearms classes to students at a range of skill levels.

    Introduction

  • Introduction classes are for people who have never shot before, or need a complete refresher. You do not need to own a firearm to take these classes, they are open to adults aged 18 or older with an interest in learning how to handle a firearm safely. The NC Concealed Carry class qualifies as an Introduction class.
  • Level 1, Fundamentals

  • Fundamentals classes provide the fundamental foundation skills that build excellent marksmanship and effective, reliable, and safe firearms use. These classes are open to adults aged 18 or older who have taken our NC Concealed Carry or Introduction classes, or who have taken an evaluation lesson with a Quest Tactical Instructor and been cleared to take Level 1 classes.
  • Level 2, Intermediate

  • Intermediate classes build on the skills learned at Level 1. They are intended for individuals who have more experience with firearms and who are ready to add equipment manipulation, and other more advanced skills. The classes are open to individuals who have been cleared by a Quest Tactical Instructor to take Level 2 classes.
  • Level 3, Advanced

  • Advanced classes take the skills learned in Level 1 and Level 2 and provide challenging opportunities to train those skills. Level 3 classes include advanced Marksmanship, Manipulation, as well as special-skills classes such as Concealed-carry Scenarios, Movement, Shooting from Cover, and others. Level 3 classes are open to individuals with significant firearms training and experience who have been cleared by a Quest Tactical Instructor to take the classes.
  • Level 4, Special Skills

  • Special Skills classes are invitation-only classes available to advanced Quest Tactical students covering highly specialized scenarios, night-shooting, and other advanced topics.

Pistol Introduction and Level 1 Fundamentals

Quest Tactical Solutions offers both an Introduction and a Fundamentals level of training for people new to firearms or wanting to work on the most important skills foundational to safe and effective gun handling.  The Introduction class is a 2.5-hour pistol safety and use class on select Saturdays at our private shooting range in Mebane. Please arrive at 11AM and be prepared to stay as late as 2PM. The Introduction class is perfect for beginning shooters, prospective buyers, or those wanting to familiarize themselves with how a pistol operates. Content covered includes all things safety related and familiarization with the operation of a pistol. Participants will go over drills to reinforce intensive lessons in safety, gun handling, pistol descriptions, fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, various pistol firing positions, several practical exercises, cleaning, and safe storage.  The end of the class will involve firing a few rounds as an introduction to range shooting. This course is open to adults age 18 and older who have an interest in learning the basic operation and safe handling of pistol type firearms. Equipment needed for successful completion of this course includes:

  • Billed cap
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Small stool
  • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes).

Participants in our Introduction class should not bring firearms to the range.

 

The Level 1 Fundamentals class will follow on from the Introduction, with a review of safety and basic operation of the pistol.  Moving on to the range, this class will focus on draw, and fundamentals of marksmanship.  A number of drills designed to support excellent fundamentals of shooting will give participants a strong foundation for future training and pistol use.

Level 2 Intermediate and Level 3 Advanced Pistol Training & Marksmanship

Quest Tactical Solutions offers various intermediate and advanced drills and skills sessions to enhance your marksmanship and weapons handling. Whether you are carrying concealed, protecting your home, or shooting for fun these training opportunities will sharpen your skills. These classes are held on select Saturdays at our private shooting range in Mebane. The topics covered in these supplementary skills courses vary widely from movement while firing drills to long-distance accuracy. Safe Presentation (drawing of the weapon), timed pressure drills, shooting from unconventional positions, and time tested expert approved drills will be utilized to build familiarity with your weapons system. Each session has a different concentration to keep the participants focused on similar skill sets that build on each other as efficiency is achieved. All courses contribute to becoming a safer and more accurate marksman. These courses are open to shooters with some experience, and those who have taken our Pistol Fundamentals or NC Concealed Carry classes, who have all of their own equipment.The following items are necessary for participation:

    • At least 2 magazines
    • At least 150 rounds of target ammunition
    • Eye and ear protection
    • Small stool
    • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)

Level 3 Concealed Carry Tactics

Self-defense shooting is much more than just going to the range. Getting your gun into the fight safely and quickly is a major part of the battle. Join us as we set up scenarios to test your “presentation” abilities, marksmanship while moving to cover, and shooting from cover. “Every day carry” guns will be the focus of this course. If you’re going to carry it , you better know how to use it. If you carry it, bring it. These courses are open to intermediate level shooters who have all of their own equipment. The following items are necessary for participation:

    • Firearm
    • Magazine holders
    • Holster
    • At least 2 magazines
    • At least 150 rounds of target ammunition
    • Eye and ear protection
    • Small stool
    • Notebook for note-taking
    • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)
    • A firm understanding of safe firearm handling

      Level 1 Shotgun Fundamentals

      Interested in the fine art of the “Boom-stick”? Interested in home defense? Probably the most recommended home defense weapon, the shotgun, has a well deserved reputation for being a “hand cannon”. A true utility gun, the shotgun can be used to hunt everything from squirrels or bear, shoot skeet for fun, defend your home, and protect our law enforcement and military heroes. If you’re interested in learning how to properly function, accurately shoot, and maintain shotguns then this course is for you. This course is open to adults age 18 and older who have an interest in learning the basic operation and safe handling of shotgun type firearms.  Please plan to arrive at 11AM and stay as late as 2PM.  Equipment needed for successful completion of this course includes:

        • Shotgun with a sling
        • At least 50 rounds of target load ammunition (same as game load or birdshot)
        • At least 10 rounds of slugs
        • Billed Hat
        • Eye and ear protection
        • Small stool
        • Notebook for note-taking
        • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)

       

      Level 2 Shotgun Training & Marksmanship

      Time to get in some highly anticipated extra practice with your shotgun! Attendees will get a chance to work on marksmanship, manipulation, and weapons transitions during this Skills and Drills course.

          • Shotgun with a sling
          • At least 150 rounds of target load ammunition (same as game load or birdshot)
          • At least 20 rounds of slugs
          • Billed Hat
          • Eye and ear protection
          • Small stool
          • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)
          • A firm understanding of safe firearm handling

       

      Level 2-3 Shotgun Weapons Transitions Drills

      Moving from primary weapons systems to your backup is one of the fastest ways to fix a malfunction if done well and with skill. At Quest Tactical Solutions we preach, “one is none, two is one, and three is better” when it comes to using firearms to defend oneself. You will run different scenarios where you will be called on to execute precision handgun shots in between volleys of shotgun fire. If your shotgun runs dry can you get your pistol up and running to engage close threats? By the end of this class you will know if you can or what you need to practice to be able to do so. The samurai carried two swords for a reason. Time to get in some highly anticipated extra practice with your shotgun! Attendees will get a chance to work on marksmanship, manipulation, and weapons transitions during this Skills and Drills course.

      Level 3 Rifle Advanced Marksmanship Drills

      Combat rifle drills for combat rifles. We will push your target acquisition skills, marksmanship abilities, and shot placement decision-making capacity. By the end of this course you will not only be hitting your target but deciding where to hit it. This class isn’t just standing and shooting bull’s-eyes, it explores questions such as: Can you hit your mark while you’re moving? Can you hit multiple targets at different angles and distances quickly? Effectively? What about from unconventional positions around, over, and under cover? These courses are open to intermediate level shooters who have all of their own equipment. The following items are necessary for participation:

            • Rifle with a sling- AR-15, Mini-14, MAC-90, or something geared towards protection
            • At least 2 magazines
            • At least 150 rounds of target ammunition
            • Eye and ear protection
            • Small stool
            • Notebook for note-taking
            • Appropriate dress (Long pants with a belt and closed toe shoes)
            • A firm understanding of safe firearm handling

       

      Level 2-3 Rifle Weapons Transitions Drills
